Kanye ripped off my song title.  I wrote Theraflu in 2001 & recorded it for my album of demos, SO FAR, in 2002.  GIMME MY PROPS, KANYE. And some money, maybe?  Please?  Let’s do a collab sometime.  Call me!

Finally, my darling M. Ward escapes the clutches of Deschablah for 5 minutes.

twentyfourbit:

M. Ward: “The First Time I Ran Away”

M. Ward returns to familiar hushed territory this morning with our first taste of his 7th solo record, A Wasteland Companion. “The First Time I Ran Away” arrives steeped in calm, nuanced instrumentation that picks up where 2009’s Hold Time left off well, complete with an animated music video by “Chinese Translation” director Joel Trussell. Enjoy the clip above, and stick around as Ward draws out his vocal on the word “storm” until it dissolves with a chilling yet nerve-settling effect.

So amped for this! “Old LA” and “VD City,” (see the post below this one), are from a forthcoming album of Woody Guthrie’s previously unrecorded lyrics, crafted into crunchy, gorgeous new songs by Jay Farrar (Son Volt), Will Johnson (Centro-matic), Anders Parker (Varnaline), and Yim Yames (My Morning Jacket).

The band and record are called New Multitudes. Record storms the beach on February 28th, in honour of Woody Guthrie’s 100th birthday, on CD, vinyl, and a 2-CD deluxe set on rounderrecords.

I feel dizzy.
